"Anyone here working on a book?"
Farnoosh Torabi, a woman who carries titles like bestselling author, award-winning podcaster, and finance expert, asked this question to myself and a group of women at the table.
"Yes." - I said with conviction.
I was the only one, although everyone there probably has a book inside them.
So she asked me what the title was. I gave her one I'd been thinking about for months and told her it was the first time I had said it out loud.
And no, I don't have a manuscript, a book deal, or a totally set-in-stone book title, but I have a book in me that wants to come out in the next year. In written and/or published form.
So I gave her details when she asked more. To her? I'm already an author in the making. To me? I'm already an author.
And my dream to write and publish a book has been set in motion because I voiced it out loud. This vision now has wheels.
Are you ever hesitant to claim a title, life goal, or dreamy vision that's been in your head for months because you think you need to finish your degree first, or get that certification, or get properly trained?
I truly believe that, in most cases, you've been trained by your life experience (with the exception of things like becoming a heart surgeon LOL).
In my case, I know I'm a writer. And I don't need to go through a writer's workshop or get a book deal to prove that.
And back when I started my business, I knew I was already a life coach, and introduced myself as one, even without a formal certification.
What title are you afraid to claim?
Expert? Author? Entrepreneur?
My advice? Claim it and you'll become it.
All my love,
Kimberly
