celebrate your lineage <3

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

As a kid, I spent almost every summer in Mexico, where my mom is from, and at the time, I thought it was normal to come from two different cultures, two different languages, have parents that came from two different countries.

But wow, now I know how unique that was. The moments where I walked outside to smell the guava trees, went down the block with my Abuelito and cousins to grab a paleta (popsicle), enjoyed my summer evenings in the Matamoros plaza (same plaza that hosted Selena for her first Mexico performance, just found that out)!

What a gift, right? Those moments that remind us that our experiences are special, shaping us into someone who is one-of-a-kind.

So in this video, I want to celebrate and recognize two Latina women that have been part of my journey since the day I was born, guiding forces in my life and my business, and integral to the woman I've become today.

I share a funny story about how I managed my wide range of emotions as a kid (involves a phone book) and my first lesson in business.

Go here to watch and celebrate them with me :)

Let's also take a moment to celebrate YOU and your lineage, whether you're Latina or not. I want you to know that you matter. Your culture matters and your differences make you who you are.

I remember feeling so insecure about the fact that I spoke English and Spanish when I was a kid cuz I didn't think that was cool. My Abuelita, sensing this, always reminded me, "That's what's gonna get you more jobs and more opportunities. Being bilingual."

Whatever makes you special, whatever makes you different, know that that's something that you can use to your advantage.

I'm cheering you on from here and hope that you have a beautiful rest of your Hispanic Heritage Month.

All my love,

Kimberly
