I had a weird feeling about it just hours before, so I called and no answer.
It was Friday, May 27th and my (supposedly) rooftop birthday party was starting soon. I'd made a reservation about a week before and they had promised me that "rain or shine" the rooftop would be open.
This was three days after my actual birthday cuz Tuesday is less of a party day for most people but I feel like my birthday lasts a month anyways LOL.
About two hours before though, there was 30 minutes of torrential downpour which turned into clear skies. So rooftop should've been fine right?
Well, I still had that feeling, so I sent Angelo over there a little early, cuz I didn't wanna get all hot and bothered (and sweaty in my dress) if there was a change of plans.
And lo and behold, there was. They told him the rooftop was closed, but the downstairs bar area was open.
He called me, and I was like noooo. No sunset or golden hour photos? No plants and cute lounge chairs? But also, could this be even better?
My friends Allison and Rubeena tried to help me decide whether or not to keep it there or bring it on home.
15 people in our small (but big for NY area) apartment? Hmm...no thanks. So we headed on over to see what this situation looked like.
Turns out, the underground portion of the business was just as fun, maybe more, cuz it was already in that rainbow nightclub status.
We didn't need to wait until 9pm to get dance-y!
Everyone ate their dinners, then the EPIC rainbow cake, and the rainbow vibes were all OVER the place! Rainbow flapper dress, rainbow leggings, people really went all out. Such FUN.
This takes me back to one of my favorite mantras: If not this, then something better. But honestly, in the moment when things don't go as planned, I don't always feel that way.
That's why I created this short 4-minute video about the best questions to ask when you need to adapt to a plan remix LOL.
In it, I share...
A story about when a group client experience went a little sideways.
The best questions to ask when you need to figure something out ASAP.
My favorite mantra when I'm designing programs and client experiences.
