Last week, I was home for Easter with the fam bam and Pitbull just so happened to be speaking at my alma mater, Indiana University in Bloomington.
I'm not a mega huge Pitbull fan, but I was intrigued by this odd concept of a Mr. Worldwide lecture and thought it would be fun/funny to go!
Turned out to be both of those things with his signature howl, the way he gets a crowd going, and the Pitbull-isms that never get old ("Dale!").
And yes there were some silly quotes. Imagine them being said in his one-of-a-kind Miami accent...
“New York is the big apple and Miami is the pineapple ”
“My mom always said if you don’t see the word sale, SALE, which means get out in Spanish.”
And I almost jumped out of my chair with excitement when he impersonated Lil' Jon: "YEEEaaahhh!"
What I didn't expect was for him to be such a great motivational speaker when it came to entrepreneurship...
“If it’s slow, it’s fo' sho. There’s no magic or secret sauce. Hard work pays off. Create a business where you take time to build. Don’t build it quick cuz as quick as it came as quick as it goes.”
“When you win all the time you don’t know what loss feels like. But when you do know what loss feels like, you do everything you can to hold onto the wins. That, my friends, is entrepreneurship or hustling 101 jejejejeje.”
“If you’re in the world of instant gratification, entrepreneurship isn’t for you. If you think you’re gonna microwave some idea, it’ll come out hot but taste like shit! Pardon my French.” --- This one's my personal favorite LOL.
I gotta agree cuz entrepreneurship isn't easy, but it is rewarding. That's why I always say it's one of the most spiritual journeys you can be on.
And like Pitbull said, "Freedom ain’t free, freedom can get ugly, but freedom is priceless!"
